The rules are simple. Any outlandish statement can be challenged by those beautiful words “Barrel on it?” Once agreed the barrel bet stands. You cannot play ‘double or nothing’ to cancel a barrel bet. A second bet would simply mean there is a second barrel to be provided Barrelanza is traditionally held on Saturday prior to Christmas or whenever we get around to organising it.
The day is seen as important to the social fabric of Australia so much so that the Australian Federal Government is planning to protect it under new industrial relations legislation (unless it is bargained away during employee/employer negotiations).
All bets are paid up once a year on Barrelanza Day, beer is the only recognised currency at Barrelanza, as a result no food can be provided in lieu of beer, however an exception could be made made if it is cooked and serverd like this
